Nancy and Jeff honeymooned in Orlando, Florida.
They stayed in the honeymoon suite at the
Hotel Royal Plaza
located in Downtown Disney. The suite featured amenities such as a
king bed, oversized bathroom with roman whirlpool tub, ceiling fan,
mini-bar, coffee / tea maker, private balcony with a view of Downtown
Disney! From their hotel balcony Jeff and Nancy were able to view the
nightly Fireworks display in Downtown Disney and Epcot. Hotel Royal
Plaza also has an outdoor heated pool and indoor fitness center.
During their 12 day stay, the couple was able to see all of what Walt
Disney World and Orlando had to offer.
During their honeymoon the couple visited the following attractions: |

Tuesday
April 20th – Downtown Disney’s Marketplace
When Jeff and Nancy
landed, they picked up their rental car and drove to their hotel - and
didn't get
lost
once! After checking in, unpacking, napping
and stocking up on some refreshments at the local 24 hour market,
Gooding's, Jeff
and Nancy went to
Downtown Disney's Marketplace for some shopping! The couple
ran straight for the best Disney store of all – The World of Disney – in
which they purchased
Mickey & Minnie Groom & Bride hats. Jeff and Nancy wore these hats
throughout the parks and received many perks from the Walt Disney World
staff because they were on their honeymoon. The couple had dinner
reservations for the Portobello Yacht Club – famous for its fabulous
Italian cuisine. After dinner, they went back to the hotel and were
welcomed into their room by the hotels romance package of chilled
champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries.

Wednesday April 21st –
The Magic Kingdom
The first full day the couple spent in their
favorite park –
Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. The first two rides that they
went on are Nancy’s favorites – Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted
Mansion. The next stop – where else – to Jeff’s favorite ride (though
he had never been on it before) it’s a small world. After that they
spent the whole day on their favorite rides such as Peter Pan, Winnie
the Pooh, Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress, The Enchanted Tiki Room,
Mickey's Philharmagic, Tomorrowland Transit Authority (formally the
People Mover!), the Indy Speedway - where Nancy drove - and the Walt
Disney Railroad. They dined at Cinderella’s Royal Table, located within
Cinderella Castle – which they had to reserve 2 months in advance just
to ensure seating! From the inside of Cinderella’s Royal Table, you are
able to see all of Magic Kingdom. Since the reservations were made for
“Honeymooners”, Jeff and Nancy received free champagne glasses with the
restaurants logo etched on them. After a
relaxing dinner, the couple headed over to Main Street for some shopping
and spotted a perfect place along the corner to view the Spectromagic
parade. As the sun set, Jeff and Nancy happily awaited the beginning of
the parade. Nancy sat on the curb and watched as Jeff sat beside her
and videotaped it. After the parade, the couple walked towards
Cinderella’s Castle to watch Magic Kingdom’s nightly Fireworks display
called “Wishes”, which Jeff also videotaped. When Jeff and Nancy
returned to their room for the evening, they were surprised by a chilled
bottle of champagne and fruit platter – compliments of Jeff’s coworkers
– The Staff at Torre Lentz.

Thursday April 22nd – Epcot

In
Epcot, Jeff and Nancy zipped through the lines and rode Spaceship Earth first. Though they did spend some time in Epcot’s Future World
riding Test Track (Jeff did that one alone), they spent most of their
time in Epcot’s World Showcase. Spanning 10 countries in one afternoon,
they ate, drank and shopped – and rode some rides too, like Mexico’s El
Rio del Tiempo and Norway’s Maelstrom. After a quick bite in Italy’s
L'
Originale Alfredo di
Roma Ristorante
restaurant, the
couple visited
the American Adventure and sat for a performance from American Vybe.
Jeff and Nancy finished the other countries and doubled back to Japan
for dinner in The Teppanyaki Dining Room; a Japanese restaurant similar
to Bennihana. As the couple was leaving the restaurant, they heard
familiar music playing and ran over to the theatre located in nearby
American Adventure to catch The Nelson Brothers (Ricky Nelson’s sons)
singing their 90’s hit song “Love and Affection”. Both being fans of
the group, they stayed through the rest of the concert and moved up to
the front row (because they are season pass holders) to watch the next
concert at 8:00pm. Jeff videotaped it and after the concert, they stood
along the railings near the American Adventure and watched Epcot’s
nightly Fireworks display called “Illuminations - Reflections on Earth”.

| Friday April 23rd – Islands
of Adventure This was the first time that either Jeff or Nancy
were visiting
Islands of Adventure, but still decided to make a half day
out of the park since neither of them like roller coasters, which
Islands has a lot of.
They began by visiting Seuss Landing by riding The Cat in the Hat – and
they both felt just a bit dizzy afterwards. Jeff and Nancy decided to
spend some time reliving their
childhood running around the Seussical playground If I Ran the Zoo.
The Zoo featured many of the characters from Dr. Seuss’ books. In The
Lost Continent the couple saw Poseidon's Fury and they were lucky enough
to land front row seats (the splash zone!) to catch The Eighth Voyage of
Sinbad show. Jeff and Nancy spent some time in Jurassic Park’s Discovery
Center looking at dinosaur bones before walking over to Toon Lagoon for
some shopping and photo opportunities. They ate lunch in the
Captain America Café in Marvel Superhero Island then doubled back to
Toon Lagoon for more shopping. Jeff and Nancy took in some
swimming at their hotel pool before dining in the Olive Garden for
dinner.

| Saturday April 24th – Lunch
with cousins Michelle, Aimee and Branden Yesterday while in
Islands of Adventure, Jeff and Nancy made a lunch date with Jeff’s
cousins Michelle and Aimee and Aimee’s husband Branden, since they
weren’t able to attend Aimee and
Branden’s
wedding in February and they were unable to attend Jeff and Nancy's
wedding. The five of them ate nearby Jeff and Nancy’s hotel at
Romano’s Macaroni Grill. Since Jeff and Nancy were going to be in
Orlando for another week, they made plans to visit again at Aimee and
Branden's home in Satellite Beach the following Friday. After lunch,
Michelle, Aimee and Branden went back home as Nancy and Jeff drove
to Downtown Disney’s Westside where they checked out
Disney Quest.
The five story building featured many old-school 80's video games
(Q-Bert, Burger Time, Pacman and Donkey Kong to name a few), interactive
and virtual reality games and computer animation. In a spur of the moment
decision they
sat in on one of Disney’s animation sessions in which an animator taught
them how to draw a Disney character. Jeff and Nancy each drew
Pluto and bought their drawing after the session (look for these to be
added to the website soon).
They spent the afternoon shopping and stuck around to visit Pleasure
Island – an all-night open bar extravaganza and celebrated New Year’s
Eve with the crowd counting down to midnight with confetti and
fireworks! Jeff and Nancy also went to Disney's comedy club,
Comedy Warehouse – an improv comedy show, where they stayed for two
shows. |
| Sunday April 25th – Animal
Kingdom

The couple also made a half day plan for
Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Jeff and Nancy took a walk around the
Tree of Life - a large tree that is hand carved with over 300 different
animals. Inside the Tree of Life they saw the 3-D presentation of It’s
Tough to be a Bug. During their ride through Kilimanjaro Safaris, Nancy
and Jeff were able to see Elephants, Antelope and Giraffes (oh my!).
They left Animal Kingdom for lunch at the Olive Garden and headed back
to the hotel pool. To end the evening, the couple went back to Pleasure
Island and the Comedy Warehouse. Jeff and Nancy were able to catch
another two comedy shows that night and since they were wearing their
Bride & Groom hats, they were definitely picked on by the comedians! |

Monday April 26th – MGM Studios
The couple made a half day plan for Disney - MGM Studios. They saw
great shows like the Indiana
Jones Stunt Spectacular (where they were given VIP
seats because they were on their honeymoon) and Jim Henson’s Muppet Vision 3-D.
They rode on The Great Movie Ride and caught a limited showing Behind the Scenes
look at The Haunted Mansion movie set. For a late lunch, they ate at the Sci-Fi Dine
In Theatre - a burgers and fries diner. The Sci-Fi tables aren’t your ordinary
tables you are seated in the front or back seat of a car! On the
back of Jeff and Nancy’s car, their host had placed a sign with the characters
Lady & the Tramp from the famous spaghetti scene and the phrase,
“Congratulations Honeymooners”. They also received a complimentary
dessert! After a nice day at MGM, the couple relaxed in the hotel pool, then had
dinner at the Rainforest Café within Downtown Disney West Side - where they
skipped the 1 hour wait and were seated immediately because they were
honeymooners. They enjoyed the Rainforest Cafe’s unique atmosphere of
special effects that included waterfalls, animal noises, simulated thunder and
lightning and dimming lights as they ate. |
| Tuesday April 27th –
Backstage Magic (Behind The Scenes) Tour
Nancy and Jeff booked the
Backstage Magic tour 2 months before they went to Walt Disney World
(as pass holders they received a discount). They read about the tour
online and wanted to uncover the Disney secrets they had wondered about
for years. They were taken backstage into the cast member only sections
of various Walt Disney World parks in this 7 hour multi-park tour. They
were able to see the Walt Disney World florist shop where they were
given roses as a gift because they were on their honeymoon. The tour
also brought them behind the buildings in Epcot and even backstage in
the American Adventure building. They saw where all the ride vehicles
are made and even where Walt Disney World stores and prepares all of
their Christmas trees and decorations. The tour included lunch at MGM
Studios' Mama Melrose; an Italian Restaurant. The tour went on to show
many other backstage areas of MGM, Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. The tour
ended in Magic Kingdom as their tour leader Chris took the group under
Main Street USA, into the world famous Walt Disney World Utilidors –
Magic Kingdom’s Tunnel System. After the tour, Jeff and Nancy decided to
hang out at the hotel for a while before going to dinner at a nearby
T.G.I. Friday’s. Note that due
to the fact that the tour goes into backstage areas of the Walt Disney
World Resort no photography was allowed. |

Wednesday April 28th – Universal Studios
The couple made a half day at Universal Studios. They took
some pictures of the Universal Globe and Archway Entrance before making their
way into the park. Once inside the park, Jeff and Nancy walked to Universal’s
newest attraction, Shrek 4-D. Inside
the
stadium seated room, they were given 3-D glasses and waited for the lights to
dim and the show to start. Not only did the images jump out at you from the 3-D
feature, but during chase scenes
(and there were a lot of them), their chairs were
simulated as if they were part of the chase scene. Nancy was disappointed to
find out that King Kong no longer existed and that the Revenge of the Mummy-the
ride, was about to take it’s place. Jeff and Nancy went straight to the back of the park to ride Jaws and
wound up being first on the boat! During the ride when Jaws makes his
appearance, Jeff and Nancy were splashed. Next they had to make a stop in the
Back to the Future store (one of the couple’s favorite movies), before getting
on line for E.T. Adventure. Jeff and Nancy cooled down after a hot day in the
park by taking a dip in the hotel pool then dined at the Olive Garden where
their server's name was Bosh. |

April 29th – Sea World Discovery Cove & Sea World
Jeff and Nancy began their day at Sea World
Discovery Cove
in the Tropical Lagoon – an animal free
pool that looked
more like a beach in the Bahamas. Jeff wandered off to the Sting-Ray
pool and Tropical Fish pool to get some cool underwater shots at the
animals. They enjoyed a nice day on the ‘beach’ swimming and splashing
around in the waterfall. Jeff lead Nancy around the pool as she held
him around his neck, using him as a floatation device. Nancy decided
using a real floatation device was a better idea, since Jeff tried to
push her underwater. Nancy got him back by pushing him under and taking
a picture of him underwater with his scuba gear on. They ended their
time at Discovery Cove with Jeff swimming with a baby Dolphin named
Hutch (Check out the
Photo Albums page for all of these!). After showering and changing,
they hurried off to
Sea World (across the street) for the Makahi Luau at the Sunfire
Inn. A combination of dinner, dancing, fire tossing and story telling,
the couple had a lot of fun at the Luau. |
| Friday April
30th – A Day in Satellite Beach with Family The couple drove
down to Satellite Beach to visit with Michelle, Aimee and Branden.
During their drive, Jeff and Nancy drove through a terrible thunder
storm with rain so bad, the car in front of them was barely visible. As
they passed away from the storm, the both of the looked back with a sigh
of relief that, that was the only time through their trip it had rained.
When they arrived at Aimee and Branden's house they were pleasantly
surprised to see Jeff's Aunt Loretta and Branden's mom were there as well. The family
spent the day catching up and looking at pictures from each other's
weddings. Nancy and Aimee talked about different things in the
kitchen as Branden and Jeff relaxed with a few beers in front of the TV
(Star Trek was on) while Michelle napped on the couch. Aimee prepared a fabulous dinner of salad,
garlic bread and baked ziti with meat sauce. |
| Saturday May
1st – Magic Kingdom
Jeff and Nancy decided to end their honeymoon by going back to their favorite
park. After checking out of the hotel, they checked their luggage and
drove to Magic Kingdom. While in the park, they went back to their
favorite rides: Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, Carousel
of Progress, it’s a small world, Mickey’s Philharmagic, Tomorrowland
Transit Authority (formally the People Mover!), and the Walt Disney
Railroad. The couple ate lunch in Tony’s Town Square on Main Street
before leaving for the airport. Due to all the new security procedures,
the couple made sure to arrive at the airport 2 hours before takeoff.
While waiting at the gate for their Delta Song flight, several
announcements were made about Delta flights being delayed. The delay was
due to Delta's main computer system in Georgia crashing that afternoon.
Jeff and Nancy met another couple that were on the same flight who were
from Staten Island. They talked for about 2 hours until their plane was
ready for boarding. The couple was supposed to take off at 8:05pm and
land at 10:35pm, but wound up boarding at 10:00pm and took off at
10:30pm. On the flight Jeff and Nancy kept themselves occupied by
watching TV that Song had provided and playing UNO. Their flight landed
and taxied in around 1:00am, about 2 ½ hours after they were supposed to
land. Nancy’s parents picked them up at the airport and drove them home.
Jeff and Nancy were sad to see their honeymoon come to an end, but
looking back on their 12 days in Orlando, both were happy they decided
to honeymoon at Walt Disney World!!
Honeymoon photos are available on the
Photo Albums Page of this site.
